TIRANA, May 11 – The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received in a meeting on Thursday the envoy of the European Union for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajçak.
Lajçak confirmed that the draft statute for the creation of the association, presented on May 2 in Brussels by the Management Team, was the subject of discussion. However, the prime minister of Kosovo has categorically rejected it, on the grounds that it leads to the creation of a Republika Srpska, while his government dismissed the management team, underlining that it has completed its mission. Kurti insisted that for the formation of the association in Kosovo, Croatia’s model for the management of the Serbian minority should be taken as a basis.
After the meeting, Lajcak said that it was also discussed to determine the next steps for the implementation of the agreement on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, officially accepted by the parties.
“I came to Pristina today to discuss with Prime Minister Kurti and Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi about the way forward in the normalization process after the May 2 meeting. It is really important to have a clear understanding of the next steps. I will have the same discussion tomorrow in Belgrade. I will meet the chief negotiators, Mr. Bislim and Petkovic, on Monday in Brussels,” said Lajcak. /argumentum.al
