TIRANA, December 8 – Former Croatian president Stipe Mesic met with the head of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, in the latter’s office on Thursday.
After the meeting, Mesic gave a statement to the media, saying that he is very worried about the attack that happened to Berisha.
Mesic said that this is an assassination attempt and that Berisha is needed by democracy, Albanians and Europe.
“I was a guest in Albania, and during the days I stayed here, I heard about the assassination attempt, about the attack that took place here, and it worried me a lot. I was concerned and surprised because Dr. Sali Berisha is the father of democracy in Albania and beyond,” Mesic said.
Further he revealed that he had been the former president of the Presidency of Yugoslavia and the former president of Croatia, and in fact from the beginning he had joined with D. Sali Berisha for the only thing – the issue of democracy.
“I don’t have much information at the moment, I don’t want to declare anything more, but this is called an assassination attempt against the Doctor. Sali Berisha is needed by all Albanians in Albania and beyond, by the region and the European Community. I wish him good health from the bottom of my heart and that he remains part of politics and works for democracy,” said the former Croatian President, an authoritative political figure in Croatia, an EU and NATO member country. /Argumentum.al
