Starting from the downtown square after a call for protest in the Capital but also in all other cities of Albania at 18.00 o’clock on Sunday spread by social networks the protesters walked along the main Boulevard staying for few minutes in front of interior ministry and then premier’s office.
There were some sporadic clashes of groups of protesters with police which used tear gas and water to disperse them. However it is reported that some protesters were escorted to police stations.
The General Secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi evaluated Sunday’s march in Tirana as a model of peaceful protests.
According to Bardhi, the protest overturned Rama’s 4-day curses calling Albanian youth “hooligans”.
Earlier before the protest the Socialist MP, Klotilda Bushka said on a local TV that the protest against the murder of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha by the police is being used by the opposition to gain political credit.
While describing the murder of the young man by police as unusual, MP Bushka stressed that this case should not be used to attack the police, especially by inciting and using violence.
In the meantime in the string of protests of Albanians abroad USA Albanian Society in NY told local media that they are the organizers of a peaceful protest, in front of the Albanian Mission in New York, which gathered dozens of young people from the Tri-State area on Sunday.
