TIRANA, March 18 – “Between Albania and the Holy See, in fact, between Albanians and the Holy See, there is a historical and very important relationship, which goes beyond purely institutional relations, as they have a strong spiritual and moral dimension,” has said Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka.
Xhacka said that on Saturday after meeting with Secretary for Relations with States of Vatican Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, who is on a three-day visit to Albania.
According to her, the history of National Hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu, Mother Teresa, figures that make every Albanian feel proud, regardless of religious affiliation, connect Albania with the Vatican. She said that the Holy See and the Catholic Church are very active in the Albanian space with a series of initiatives and projects in the field of education, culture, health, social assistance and she hoped that the deepening of cooperation would be achieved by working closely together.
In addition, Xhacka said they had also talked about the developments in the region and beyond, about the Russian aggression in Ukraine and its dramatic consequences not only for Ukraine and its heroic people, but also for the whole world.
“Undoubtedly, we also discussed the Albanian space, focusing mainly on Kosovo.
