TIRANA, August 17 – At the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK), the Court set the security measure “Arrest in prison” for the former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodjan Rjepaj, and businessman Ilir Rrapaj on Thursday as part of the investigation into the sterilization concession file with worth 100 million euros.
Three years from the start of the investigations and 8 years from the granting of the concession, the former deputy minister is accused by SPAK of abusing his duties and falsifying documents, while the businessman who won the concession in 2015, Ilir Rrapaj, of fraud with serious consequences.
The two former officials, Saimir Kadiu, economic director in the ministry during the granting of the concession, as well as Marsela Serjanaj, legal director, were put under “house arrest” as a security measure.
With the suspicions that they have misused their duties and falsified documents, security measures “compulsion to appear” were set for 4 other officials: Arben Gjata, Pertef Mersini, Genc Burazeri and Naile Ajazi.
SPAK also said that the concession was granted under conditions of conflict of interest, as connections and contacts of the businessman who won the concession with ministry officials were found.
Despite the measures issued, SPAK’s investigations are not finished and 6 more people are still under investigation, including the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja, who was previously questioned by the prosecutors.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that it is also under investigation the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja and the former Minister of Finance, Shkëlqim Cani. /argumentum.al
