TIRANA, August 1 – Dritan Goxhaj, an escort of American troops during the War in Kosovo in 1999, was arrested in Tirana. His arrest was made after an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo.
It is learned that Goxhaj’s arrest was made under the claim that he had released the names of the witnesses of several criminal cases related to the war in Kosovo.
In the reaction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana, it is stated that the relevant procedures will be carried out for the extradition of this citizen to the Republic of Kosovo.
The Organization of Veterans of the War of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) has reacted and its leader Faton Klinaku has opposed the arrest of Goxhaj.
“Justice has been obstructed In the Special Court by itself through leaking its documents, as well as by publishing the identity of “victims” and thus also the witnesses. Even the arrest of Dritan Goxhaj is done to scare people who oppose a political court,” Klinaku said in a post on social networks on Tuesday.
In the meantime, the Specialized Chambers said Goxhaj will be held in Albania, pending a decision from the Albanian authorities on the transfer of Goxhaj in the detention facilities in The Hague. /argumentum.al
