TIRANA, July 4 – Former US President Bill Clinton concluded his two-day visit to Albania on Tuesday, according to Prime Minister Edi Rama, who shared footage from his escort to the “Mother Teresa” international airport on social networks.
Rama took that opportunity to draw attention to Clinton’s impressions of Albania.
“It was all extraordinary! I wouldn’t want to leave today and I’m leaving thinking that the other name of New York is West Albania,” said Bill Clinton.
On Monday, Clinton visited Albania for the first time, and a reception ceremony was held on July 3 on the boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit” in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana, where many citizens were also present in his honor.
Meanwhile, it is announced that President Bajram Begaj has wished Clinton welcome to Albania through a message on social networks.
“Welcome to Tirana President Clinton! Albania and the Albanians are forever grateful to you for everything you have done for our nation and in particular for Kosovo,” said Begaj. “Your decision-making and leadership in the most decisive days for the future of Kosovo have placed you on the pedestal of our dearest friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” said Begaj in his message.
President Begaj did not attend the ceremonies in honor of former US President Clinton. He also did not receive him in the presidential premises when high dignitaries from different countries were welcomed by the head of state as a token of respect. No official reason is given on this but some said that Begaj was not well but he had a meeting with the deputy PM Belinda Balluku on Tuesday morning. /argumentum.al
