TIRANA, June 6 – The head of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta, has reacted to the closure of the Academy of Albanian Studies (ASA) as 100 professors and researchers from international universities expressed their opinion through an open letter against the closure of the ASA on Tuesday.
Meta called it a unilateral arbitrary decision which is very harmful. “The arbitrary unconsulted and very harmful unilateral decision to close it is unacceptable and has serious consequences for the further development of Albanian knowledge,” he said in a post on social networks on Tuesday.
According to the FP head, the decision of this government, which has the assimilation of national identity at the top of its agenda, is not accidental.
“Full solidarity with the open letter of scientists, academics, professors, researchers and other intellectuals, local and foreign, in defense of this institution and academic freedom in Albania,” said Meta. /argumentum.al
