TIRANA, May 1 – The Chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta, has said that anyone who tries to manipulate the May 14 elections will be held responsible.
He made the statement during a press conference on Monday after a round of meetings he held in the city of Korça, southeastern Albania.
Asked if he is worried by the fact that the “Together We Win” coalition will have a commissioner in KZAZ and a counter in only half of the country, Meta said that “This is a process that the people have taken in their hands that will vote regardless of the efforts made to discourage participation in this election. The people will vote, they will count, they will monitor.”
According to him, everyone will be in front of the polling stations until the last vote is counted. “These are processes that belong to the past when (PM) Rama rigged the match. Those who think that this usurping minority can affect even one vote of Albanian citizens will be very hopeless. They have the responsibility and if they are capable, let them carry it,” he said.
In the meantime the FP head touched upon the closure of many courts of different levels in most of the areas of Albania. “Ramaforma” is destroying citizens’ access to justice, increasing delays, bureaucracy and costs, he said.
Meta stated that from today, tens of thousands of citizens will be deprived of the opportunity to pursue their cases in the courts and the prosecutor’s office.
“From today, unfortunately, the First Instance Courts will be closed in Lushnja, in the city of Congress, Pogradec, Kavaja, Kurbin, Mat, Tropoja, Përmet, etc. Ramaforma in justice, in complete opposition to all the changes made 7 years ago, is destroying citizens’ access to justice, adding delays, bureaucracies and increasing costs to leave them without justice. This new judicial map is an anti-reform,” said Meta.
FP head Meta said that the citizens of Albania will also vote against Ramaforma on May 14, which is making justice even more impossible, more inaccessible and more expensive, in order to leave citizens without justice. /argumentum.al
