TIRANA, March 13 – An investigation related to the mega-scandal of fraud worth billions of euros of European citizens through call centers in Albania in the center of which is a former official of the Albanian government, has been made known by BIRN.
It is about Amant Josifi, who became the operative pillar of an international criminal network, which deceived hundreds of thousands of victims throughout Europe, extorting billions of euros, during five years.
Europol and Eurojust organized an operation to attack this criminal network, but Amant Josifi was not caught by the police, even though he was wanted by the Spanish authorities.
The investigative procedures carried out in Albania through the order letter sent by the Spanish authorities, have revealed 10 call centers connected to 24 fraudulent investment platforms. According to SPAK documents seen by BIRN, 33-year-old businessman Amant Josifi is behind the three main fraudulent companies.
According to the profile published on a personal website, Josifi served until 2020 as an advisor for NATO to the former Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka, who now holds the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Europe. Josifi presents himself as an advisor to the Minister of Defense on his page on the social network ‘LinkedIn’.
In 2014, Josifi founded together with the Prime Minister’s brother, Olsi Rama and businessman Endri Meksi, the company Pegasus Communications Shpk. He sold his shares in this company in 2018.
Josifi presents himself on his biographical website as the son of a businessman, educated in France in political science and international relations. /Argumentum.al
