TIRANA, October 15 – The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has canceled his participation in the Berlin Process Summit in Tirana postponing his arrival in the capital of Albania where he is expected to pay an official visit.
French media announced that Macron will arrive in Albania on Monday afternoon to continue bilateral meetings with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to the media, it is reported that the cause of the cancellation of the participation in the Summit is the terrorist attack in Arras, France, where a teacher was killed, as well as the situation in the Middle East.
The French president was initially expected on Monday morning in Albania to participate in the 9th summit of the Berlin process, which brings together the leaders of the Western Balkans and several European countries to promote political dialogue, cooperation and reconciliation in the region as well as the rapprochement with the European Union.
It is reported that Macron will be represented at the Balkan summit by the Secretary of State for Europe, Laurence Boone. /argumentum.al
