German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Albania on September 14, 2021, according to a statement issued by the German embassy in Tirana on Thursday.
The embassy also published Chancellor Merkel’s agenda during her visit to Tirana. According to the statement, she will initially meet for a conversation with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“Talks are planned related to economic policy issues and bilateral relations between Albania and Germany, but also issues related to the approximation with the EU,” the embassy said.
The agenda includes talks with the heads of government of the six Western Balkan countries and it is reported that issues of regional cooperation will be high on the agenda.
Bilateral talks of Chancellor Merkel are also planned with the heads of government of Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia – Herzegovina.
Merkel has been the initiator of the Berlin Process and it is not known what will happen with that initiative as it has not been part of the EU projects but a complimentary undertaking to promote the cooperation between WB countries along the path of the EU accession process. / argumentum.al
