Members of German Bundestag, Peter Beyer and Christian Schmidt, during their visit to Kosovo met leaders of political parties which won Kosovo elections and called on swift formation of new government.
Peter Beyer, member of the German chancellor Angela Merkel’s party, during a press conference in Pristina said the winners of elections – Vetevendosje and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) should conclude an agreement and form new institutions. “All politicians understand the responsibility they have after elections to form a stable government. Time is ticking away therefore results in negotiations are needed. We do not want to interfere because this is not our mandate, but we are here to listen and give some messages,” Beyer said who is also Rapporteur for Kosovo at the Council of Europe. “Negotiations on coalition should not be focused on technical details. We feel that there is a political willingness to form a new government,” Beyer said.
Christian Schmidt, member of Bundestag said this week is decisive on creation of the new government of Kosovo. “We should make it very clear that developments of Kosovo and its European perspective are of great importance. Considering that I come from the EPP (European People’s Party), it was important for me to be here. I will inform [German Chancellor Angela] Merkel on the developments, because she is also interested on what is happening,” Schmidt said. Schmidt confirmed the separate meetings with the Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti and Isa Mustafa adding that they are not here to negotiate with them on future coalition. Schmidt reiterated that the idea on exchange of territories between Kosovo and Serbia is dangerous. /GazetaExpress/
