“Justice reform is a crucial element in Albania’s path to EU membership,” said Susanne Schütz, Director for the Western Balkans at the German Foreign Ministry.
Schütz made the statement on constitutional changes to Albania regarding the extension of the mandate for the vetting bodies through a post on Twitter on Tuesday.
Schütz, who has been Germany’s ambassador to Albania, wrote that it is the joint responsibility of the government and the opposition to enable the extension of the mandate.
“The vetting of judges and prosecutors is key to this process and should be completed as soon as possible,” Schütz added.
“It is the joint responsibility of the government and the opposition to enable the extension of the mandate,” she wrote.
The statement of the former German Ambassador was made as part of the support that the main international promoters of justice reform and the extension of the vetting process in the judiciary bodies are providing for Albania. / Argumentum.al
