TIRANA, April 20 – The decision of the majority to increase salaries in the public administration as well as in some categories of professions in the public sector will cost the state budget 38 billion Lek until 2025.
After the meeting of the government on Thursday during which several acts were approved finalizing the decision for the first phase of salary increase, the Minister of Finance also clarified the source of this money.
“These funds are expected to be collected either from the increase in income or from internal reallocations. It means that we will continue to reduce the debt and the deficit, guaranteeing fiscal sustainability,” said Ibrahimaj.
The opposition has criticized this decision of the government as an electoral policy, but Minister Ibrahimaj brought to the attention that this step is taken to mitigate inflation and to include in the public administration some professionals who have been well paid in the private sector until now.
“The salary increase is also a result of the inflationary crisis that is happening, high prices and the increase in living costs,” said Ibrahimaj.
Meanwhile, the ministers of Health, Education, Justice and the Minister of the Interior gave concrete figures for the salary increase in the departments they lead. /Argumentum.al
