TIRANA, October – A total of 19.4 billion lek or about 180 million euros is the damage that the Albanian institutions have caused to the state budget for 2023. This is the conclusion reached by the High State Audit (KLSH) in a report compiled by the audit conducted in the central and local institutions from January to August this year.
Most of the damage to the state budget of about 14.7 billion lek was caused by the ineffective management of funds, while the rest of about 4.4 billion lek are economic damage. About 99% of the financial damages in the state budget, according to the report, was found in the field of expenses.
There are 46 local and central institutions, including 21 municipalities in the country, that have caused damage to public finances, while the Albpetrol company, which continues to be a financial black hole for Albania, is ranked on top of the list. The report said that 63% of the total expenses resulting in economic damage were found in this company, which also accounts for the highest number of requests from the KLSH for administrative measures.
The High State Augit has requested 542 disciplinary measures and 41 other administrative measures against the employees of the institutions that caused the economic damage. /argumentum.al
