TIRANA, July 8 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has decided to dismiss Bledi Çuçi from the post of Minister of the Interior and appoint Taulant Balla to this post.
The decision of the head of the government was made after the violence of the Rraja tribe against some citizens regarding a quarry in Kruja.
Through a post on Twitter on Saturday, the Prime Minister announced that he will submit the proposals to the President on Monday. Rama thanked Çuçi for the correct work and wished that Balla would continue the effort for state-building reforms.
It remains to be seen who will be appointed head of the socialist parliamentary group, a post that Balla has held since 2017.
The decision of the head of the government to dismiss Çuçi and appoint Balla came after the event that happened two days ago that shocked the public opinion – the violence of the Rraja tribe against the Maja cousins for a quarry in Kruja. Likewise, Rama took this decision after the facts came out that the police in Kruja had connections with the violators and 40 complaints of citizens were not taken into account by the police.
The residents complained that instead of taking measures, they were threatened with prison and handcuffs by the chief of the Kruja police station if they went out to protest to block the activity of the quarry, property of the brother of the socialist deputy, Rrahman Rraja, who relinquished his mandate on Saturday. /argumentum.al
