TIRANA, August 31 – The Director of the Department for Public Order and Security in the State Police, Rebani Jaupi, together with the Ambassador of Italy to Albania, Fabrizio Bucci, met in Durrës on Thursday the forces of the State Police and those of the Italian Police, who are committed to joint patrols, along the coastline, for the safety of citizens, tourists and vacationers.
These joint patrols show the excellent relations between the Albanian and Italian Police, cooperation which continues to guarantee order and public safety for citizens and visitors from all over the world, according to Jaupi.
The Italian Police officers, who patrolled together with their colleagues from the State Police during the tourist season, expressed maximum appreciation, not only for the commitment of the Police officers, but also for the standard work procedures, designed and implemented at the European level.
This cooperation has resulted in addressing, following up and providing solutions to cases involving citizens of both countries, as well as verifying in mutual and unique systems, the data of citizens suspected of various crimes.
Based on the very positive results of this tourist season, as well as the increase in the number of Italian vacationers who choose Albania, Jaupi proposed that the joint patrols with the Italian Police should also be extended to the Traffic Police in the future.
In its fourth year, the joint patrols are based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties, signed by the police heads on December 13, 2017, and foresees 24 operators of Police structures, located in Durrës, Vlora, Saranda and Himara. /argumentum.al
