The Court against Organized Crime and Corruption (GJKKO) sentenced former judge Enkelejda Hoxha to 3 years in prison on Monday. The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) had requested 3.6 years in prison, but a retrial was applied for her sentence. Lawyer Aldo Tabaku was sentenced to 4 years in prison, who played the role of mediator.
Enkelejda Hoxha who was arrested on February 11 along with other persons as part of a criminal structure that aimed to release some convicts serving sentences in the high security prison in Fushe-Kruja, in exchange for monetary benefits. She has been charged with “Passive corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials”.
The High Judicial Council decided to dismiss Hoxha from duty in violation of the law of the two prisoners n March 17, 2021.
The judge is accused of enabling the reduction of the sentence and the release from prison of several high-profile convicts – including Endrit Dokle, Ilir Paja and Hekuran Billa, in exchange of money amounts ranging from 6,000 to 12,000 euros. / Argumentum.al
