TIRANA, February 17 – With the raising of the flag, the activities for the 15th anniversary of the Independence of Kosovo began in Pristina on Friday.
The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, was also present at the solemn session of the Assembly, and said that Albania is close to Kosovo for its membership in NATO and the UN and in all other international organizations. Begaj welcomed the commitment of the US and the EU for the dialogue with Serbia.
“The independence of the Republic of Kosovo was the centuries-old justice that the international community owed to the Albanians. It reminds us of the strength of Albanian resistance,” said the Albanian President.
After the solemn session, the KSF soldiers paraded in the capital’s square, marking the main ceremony of this holiday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani said that the girls and boys of our police will also parade in the square of Ibrahim Rugova, who is looking at us from above and is very proud.
“These boys and girls are the descendants of the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) who defended and formed our state. A very big thank you also goes to our friends. Thanks to the US, our eternal ally,” said Osmani.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti mentioned the struggle of the KLA, the contribution of political prisoners and international assistance to achieve the country’s independence.
“They are the sons and daughters of this country who swore to protect with their lives the sovereignty and territory as well as the order and law of the Republic of Kosovo,” Kurti said.
There were messages of greetings from Albanian politicians among whom PM Edi Rama, as well as from world leaders. /Argumentum.al
