The US State Department has said it does not “comment on domestic issues why some countries have not been invited” to the Democracy Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden, VOA in Serbian reported on Thursday.
“President Biden has pledged to host the Democracy Summit to strengthen our commitment to positioning democracy and human rights at the heart of US foreign policy,” said an unnamed State Department spokesman. This virtual event is scheduled to take place on December 9th and 10th this year.
The White House has announced that part of the Summit will be countries with developed or developing democracies, civil society and the private sector – without specifying the exact number of guests

This virtual event is scheduled to take place on December 9th and 10th. But the DASH has said the United States is not trying to determine which states are democracies and which are not.
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bob Menendez, and seven other senators have sent a letter to the US president, asking for clarification and transparency regarding the criteria applied to decide which countries will be invited to Summit.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic has stated that everyone has the right to choose who to invite and to evaluate the democracies of other people, while commenting on the absence of Serbia at the Summit.
It is also reported that Kosovo, the strategic ally of the US, has not been invite to the event.
