Kosovo authorities have said on Tuesday that they have confiscated significant amounts of weapons in the northern part, which are suspected to have remained there, after the September 24 attack in Banjské i Zveçani.
The Director General of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, has said that the Police has provided information from citizens and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA).
He, together with the Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, announced that the raids were carried out in the vicinity of Zveçan, towards the part of Rudare.
Hoxha said that among the confiscated equipment are about 1.500 ammunition, 10 long guns, 62 stun grenades, explosives, radio links, loaded and empty magazines, and a Serbian army uniform.
The Head of Police has said that a person, a former Kosovo Police officer, has already been detained, as he is suspected of being connected to the weapons, which were found near his house.
Since the September 24 attack in Banjské in Zveçan, the Kosovo authorities have presented several times confiscated weaponry in the northern part.
In September 2023, a Serbian armed group attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, killing Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
He is currently believed to be in Serbia, and an international arrest warrant has been issued against him by the International Police Organization (INTERPOL).
