TIRANA, April 29 – “Agriculture is one of the sectors with the greatest potential for foreign investments,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, at the Albania-Germany business forum that took place in Tirana.
Krifca presented a series of sectors in the field of agriculture and food in the forum attended by dozens of business representatives from both countries and from various institutions that make Albania competitive and attractive for foreign investments.
“Albania is a country that produces almost entirely organically. The indicators of the World Food Organization, FAO, prove that Albanian agriculture uses 4 times less fertilizer products than the EU average. The marine fishing sector of 450 ships together with aquaculture products generate more than 80 million euros of exports per year,” said Krifca.
The minister presented livestock and the value chain of meat and livestock products as good opportunities and worth cooperation with foreign enterprises in the process of restructuring the value chain and strengthening food security in the sector.
Albania is a Mediterranean country that stands out for its emblematic products such as vineyards, wine, olives, olive oil and aromatic plants, she said. Focusing on the new growing trend of agricultural exports, Krifca pointed out that “Made in Albania” agricultural products are being demanded more and more by foreign markets, expanding the geography of the countries to Asia, the Scandinavian countries, the US, etc. .
“Today, agriculture occupies over 66% of the volume and amount of exports and 43% of the value of the total exports of Albania,” said Krifca.
The ambassador of Germany in Albania, Peter Zingraff, also held a speech at the forum, who said that the support is extended in several important areas in Albania. /Argumentum.al
