“It is our duty as leaders, scientists and activists, not to stand on the margins of history, but to be progressive, to embrace and shape it, advocating for more equality and justice throughout the world,” has said among others the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
Kurti made those comments at the Peace Forum, which is taking place in Paris where the most important actors in global governance are participating and it is the fourth annual edition in a row.
The Kosovo PM held meetings with the French President, Emmanuel Macron and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell, according to a report by KosovaPress on Saturday. No details of the talks have been provided but it is certain that the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue should have been the focus of the meetings.
“We are living in a time of change. History has moved faster in these last two decades than in the last two centuries. Fast travel, commercialism and information have removed barriers, increased opportunities and lifted billions out of poverty. However, they have also brought new risks, such as climate change, and widened the gap of inequality between rich and poor. Also we are now more exposed to diseases and pandemics, which develop and spread more easily than ever,” said Kurti.
According to him, the way the world grows is contrary to the moral values and the planet and all we need is growth in harmony with nature and that focuses on peace, equality and prosperity for all. “This requires a change in the way we do business – a change in our approach and the way we live. But as long as people think it’s okay to fly a private jet, as long as 25,000 people die of starvation every day and more than half a billion live in extreme poverty – this vision seems unattainable,” said Kosovo PM. / Argumentum.al
