TIRANA, October 25 – Prime Minister Edi Rama participated on Wednesday in the “Global Gateway Forum 2023”, which is taking place in Brussels, together with other leaders from around the world, in an extended debate on issues related to investments infrastructure, including challenges facing the public and private sectors, best practices and lessons learned.
Rama said in his speech that the Western Balkans is surrounded by the borders of the EU, but we are not the EU, we are only E, without U.
Speaking about the new EC growth plan for the Western Balkans, Rama said that “this is really music to our ears”.
Rama emphasized that this opening that we are seeing thanks to this ever closer relationship with the European Union, is essential not only for the future of the Western Balkans, but also for the European Union itself.
The Prime Minister expressed his conviction that “there is nothing worth more than getting closer and closer to the European Union”.
“For us Albanians, who have experienced a history that has forced us to make a series of unwanted marriages, believe us, this may be the most difficult marriage to make, but the only marriage worth looking for,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that we are surrounded by the borders of the EU and our neighbors who are in the EU receive 4517 euros per capita from the European Union itself.
“What we get in E, without U, is only 138 euros per person. It is a very big gap that we fill with love, that we fill with hope, that we fill with ambition, that we fill with very clear ideas that there is nothing better that we can leave behind for our children, but I sincerely hope that what the President of the Commission and this Commission are working hard to do, will be successful, because at the end of the day, our children must inherit not only the testament of love, but also the proof that this marriage is the only one worth having,” PM Rama said. /argumentum.al
