TIRANA, August 19 – The Chairman of the Freedom Party (FP) Ilir Meta has said that the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade is being followed with great attention while adding that his party appreciates the commitment of the US and the EU on such an important issue for the region.
Meta said that the party he leads encourages all actors to engage in all ways for the realization of the European future In a post on Facebook on Friday.
According to him, mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia should be at the core of a stable solution in the framework of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue.
“The Freedom Party appreciates the commitment of the US and the EU on such an important issue for our region and for achieving a lasting peace,” said Meta, a former president.
“The challenge of our entire region is to restore the faith of the youth, to stay and build functional states, in a region to be in peace, prosperity and fully integrated in the European family,” said Meta.
In a separate comment in response to the statement made earlier on Friday by the chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who made it clear that there will be a coalition with the Freedom Party, the head of the FP Meta said that this is an important issue, especially in conditions of an illegitimate local power.
He welcomed the idea of primaries introduced by Berisha, and in the case of a coalition, it would be a wonderful idea to choose the best candidates”.
This is an important issue in the conditions of an illegitimate local government, where the opposition has no councilor in Albania, Meta said, inviting the opposition to strengthen the monitoring of the decisions of the Municipal Councils everywhere because there is no control from the opposition.
Further he looked forward to cooperation with DP in a more transparent manner as it is important that citizens take control of the local government. “We will make efforts to make this happen before the local elections. Only (PM) Edi Rama is responsible for this situation,” said Meta.
