TIRANA, November 2 – Defense Minister Niko Peleshi has said that international military missions will now be accompanied by the Military Police throughout the territory of Albania.
Speaking at the plenary session in the Assembly on Thursday about the draft law “On some changes in the law no. 9363, dated 24.3.2005, “On sending the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania abroad, as well as on the manner and procedures of deployment and passage of foreign military forces in the territory of the Republic of Albania, as amended”, Peleshi said that, it is a question of a modification in the law on the transit of the Military Forces. According to him, the modification was made to give the possibility to the Military Police to accompany the missions coming from other countries through Albania, to then continue to Montenegro or the Western Balkans.
“With this draft law, the Military Police gets the right and duty to escort international military missions through the territory of Albania,” said the Defense Minister. /argumentum.al
