TIRANA, April 21 – All Muslims in Albania and around the world have celebrated Eid al-Fitr after the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Albanian believers prayed in the cities’ mosques and the main squares on Friday morning.
Muslim believers celebrate Eid al-Fitr after 30 days of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. In Tirana, the believers prayed in “Skënderbej Square” and the Head of the Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu conveyed to those present the congratulations and greetings of this day of joy for all believers. In his speech Spahiu said 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Muslim Community of Albania.
In Durres hundreds of Muslim believers prayed, while they exchanged messages of peace among each other, wishing good luck and prosperity to all Albanians.
In Elbasan, the Eid al-Fitr prayer was held in the city’s Grand Mosque, where believers filled the square. After the prayer, the believers exchanged their wishes of mercy, prosperity and of acceptance for the fasting and sacrifices.
Muslim believers of Shkodra, northern Albania, prayed in the mosques of the city, congratulating each other. They prayed for forgiveness in the ceremony led by the Mufti, Imam Muhammad Sytari, who in his speech spoke about the importance of the month of Ramadan, about unity and forgiveness.
In the meantime, like in previous years, political leaders paid visits to the main headquarters of the Muslim community on the occasion. /Argumentum.al
