TIRANA, September 7 – The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani met at the headquarters of NATO on Thursday with the Secretary General of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, and the focus of the meeting was the situation in the North of Kosovo.
In a joint press conference, the head of NATO stated that for the North Atlantic alliance it is essential to avoid further escalation in the north of Kosovo.
He also condemned the violence perpetrated by Serbs in the north against members of the NATO mission in Kosovo, calling their actions unacceptable. He said that the stability of the region depends on all parties, as he added that NATO is fully committed to maintaining peace and stability in the north.
Among other things, the head of NATO said the Kurti-Vucic meeting in Brussels next week is an opportunity for Kosovo to demonstrate that it is a responsible party that acts constructively for the benefit of Euro-Atlantic security. He encouraged Kosovo and Serbia to adhere to their commitments.
For her part, Osmani said that Kosovo is in full compliance with every decision of the foreign and security policy of NATO and the EU. She underlined that it is Serbia that receives support from the European Union, but its foreign policy does not comply with that of the West. Osmani also requested that the Serbian side does its homework before receiving the EU support funds.
