TIRANA, April 30 – The national and Kosovo flags, which have been flying in the Bosnian Quarter in North Mitrovica for years, have been replaced with new ones, reported KoSSev. The new flags were placed just a few days after local elections were held in the north of Kosovo, where Erden Atiq, the candidate of Vetëvendosje, was elected mayor of North Mitrovica.
Only a hundred meters to the north begins the line of Serbian flags, which, apart from in the residential areas in the north of Kosovo, are also displayed along the main roads in that part.
The issue of flags in the north of Kosovo was raised once again after the local elections, in which the representatives of the Albanian parties PDK and Vetëvendosje won due to the boycott of the Serbs.
The newly elected mayors of the municipalities of Leposaviq and Zubin Potok announced that they will remove the Serbian flags from the institutions and replace them with the flags of Kosovo, when they officially receive their mandates.
The flags of Kosovo were placed immediately after the local elections also at certain stations of the Kosovo Police.
As reported by the Serbian media in Kosovo, the flag of Kosovo also flies at police stations in the north and it was also placed in Leposaviq on Saturday. /Argumentum.al
