TIRANA, August 25 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned that there will not be early general elections in Albania, calling any hearsay on them as ‘rumors under a beach umbrella’.
“Don’t waste time with these rumors that are for under the beach umbrella and not to waste our time here in the government building,” said Rama in a press conference on Friday.
Speaking of the officials who are facing justice, he said “my moral responsibility is towards the Albanians to give them a justice that does exactly this job”.
“If someone uses the common road for the common purpose of collecting mandarins while we go to war, they will pay. It’s that simple,” said Rama.
Rama also informed about the meeting with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni in Vlora.
Asked if the project of transporting water from Albania to Italy was discussed in this meeting, Rama said: “There is no project, these are all ideas. The idea of water dates back to before the Second World War and it is an idea that has been continuously promoted by all Italian governments, but nothing concrete has been done. When you talk to a new prime minister of Italy, you will definitely put them (ideas) on the table and we will see how we will advance.”
The Prime Minister stressed that the second meeting of the Joint Investment Committee will take place in Rome very soon and we will see how it will proceed.
“Then we have the Berlin Process Summit here in October where the Prime Minister of Italy will be present. There are 2 or 3 more meetings at the ministerial level before the meeting of the prime ministers with all the countries participating in the Summit. We will have time to see them all”, the PM said. /argumentum.al
