TIRANA, August 22 – Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani has said that North Macedonia rejects the “inappropriate” comments made by Serbian Defence Minister Milos Vucevic, who is also head of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.
Vucevic said on Serbia’s pro-government TV Pink on August 20 that recognition of Kosovo by North Macedonia and Montenegro will come back to hurt them.
“You made a mistake and it will hit you on the head, just like in Ukraine, it hits everyone who promoted Kosovo and Metohija as an independent state,” Vucevic said. “You have opened Pandora’s box. Your bureaucratic answers that Kosovo is sui generis, that it’s a special case, are ridiculous,” he added.
But Skopje’s top diplomat retorted by saying that “We opt for regional stability and cooperation, including with Serbia and Kosovo. We expect clarification from the Serbian defence minister.”
In the meantime Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic condemned the intervention of Vucevic, who criticized Montenegro over the ongoing attempts in the country to form a coalition government always seeing as problematic for pro-Serbian parties to be part of the Montenegrin government and helm ministries, but not for pro-Albanian parties.
The Montenegrin head of state warned that any attempt at direct or indirect interference by foreign actors in the creation of the government in Montenegro is unacceptable. /argumentum.al
