TIRANA, May 16 – State Elections Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi declared on Tuesday that 1,595,360 voters voted in total, out of 3,650,658 voters called to the local election.
According to Celibashi, the participation in the elections was 38.22% of the eligible voters in the local elections of May 14, 2023.
The ruling Socialist Party (SP) received a total of 786,566 votes, the coalition “Together We Win ” 501,402 votes where the Democratic Party and Freedom Party were part of, while the faction of the Democratic Party (DP) headed by Alibeaj received 36,852 votes.
Celibashi informed that the SP won 53 mayoral mandates out of 61, the Greek Ethnic Minority Party for the European Future of Albania 1 mandate and the “Together We Win” coalition 7 mandates.
Celibashi also published the names of the mayors declared as winners by the CEC, including Erion Veliaj of SP in Tirana, Emiriana Sako of SP in Durrës, Benet Beci of SP in Shkoder, Gledian Llatja of SP in Elbasan. Alfred Beleri, who is behind bars, is mayor of Himara representing the “Together We Win” coalition. /argumentum.al
