The first meeting of the National Hydrocarbon Management Board (NYMB), which was established by the Albanian government a few days ago, held its first meeting and made the first decision on price management in the Albanian retail market. According to the decision made public by local media, it was decided that Saturday’s oil market price would be 217 ALL down from 223 ALL.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Edi Rama during the online communication where he presented the package of resistance to face the economic crisis, among other things said that he will halve the needs for oil for every official or administrative employee. Rama stated that government employees will be paid only 50% of the price of fuel while the rest will be paid by them. “I will pay only 50% of the oil needs for each official, the rest will be paid out of their pocket,” said Rama.
In addition he announced that oil taxes will not be removed and no protest could undo it.
Saturday was the fourth day of protests of citizens against the price rise which Rama ridicules.
“Taxes will not be removed because the price of energy will not increase. Those who say that even those 290 million euros in the best case that we have to pay, we will not be able to pay if we keep the lower taxes,” Rama said. /Argumentum.al
