“Why not us lawyers, we should be part of Open Balkans so that no one has barriers and restrictions.”
With these words, the head of the Association of Criminal Lawyers, Saimir Vishaj addressed the 8th international conference “On criminal justice” where Albanian criminal lawyers supported the Open Balkans initiative on Friday.
In his speech, the head of Albania’s Association of Criminal Lawyers said that the initiative makes it possible for the honorable professor and the chairman of the bar association of North Macedonia to come and defend a criminal case in Tirana without any barriers. “Let the lawyer from Prizren come to Kukës, which is only 10 km away,” he said.
While the chairman of the Alliance “Kosova e re” Pacolli said that “although my government in Kosovo does not accept and rejects this initiative, even though Montenegro has not understood it correctly and is missing this right initiative, I say it is the right initiative. We need it.”
During the conference proceedings, the lawyers requested some legal changes in relation to the rights of the suspects for violation of the law. They also proposed that vacancies in justice institutions, including the judiciary, be filled with their involvement. / Argumentum.al
