TIRANA, April 16 – Orthodox believers celebrated Easter, a significant day of the religious calendar, across Albania, but most of the celebrations were held in areas where Orthodox believers live.
As every year on the Great Saturday of Orthodox Easter, the holy fire was passed with candles to the believers who exchanged greetings on this important day in the Orthodox festive calendar.
The Easter celebrations started with the big mass on Saturday night and ended with the traditional Sunday lunch. “Christ is risen” is the “chorus” of this festive day, which is expressed unanimously by all believers by knocking on the red Easter egg that symbolizes the blood of Christ.
Archbishop Janullatos in his message to all believers said that “let us let the light of the Resurrection illuminate our lives and let the Holy Spirit grant us endurance, patience, hope.”
In the meantime, the main political figures of Albania’s political scene wished the Orthodox believers for the event. /Argumentum.al
