TIRANA, August 30 – The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has responded to French President Macron’s statements that his country will consider the possibility of suspending the decision to waive visas for Kosovo citizens from January 1, 2024. She has said that such an action would kill the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
“I would say that this is the way to kill the dialogue once and for all. If someone wants to stop dialogue, then take such measures, which are punitive measures against the people of Kosovo. And such an unprecedented punishment, which has been a great injustice for the people of Kosovo, will result in the death of dialogue. No one has a mandate to go to Brussels, when the people of Kosovo are punished,” said Osmani.
She said that on September 1, the instructions for holding early elections in the four northern municipalities will be ready.
Osmani made these comments after the tributes she paid on the day of the missing persons.
On this occasion, she called on the international community to put pressure on Serbia to open the archives. According to her, Serbia continues to commit flagrant violations of the agreements reached in Brussels and Ohrid.
“We very much hope that the dialogue in Brussels will not be a process through which pressure will be put on Kosovo, injustice will be done to the people of Kosovo, while the face of Vucic, a man who still sleeps on mass graves, will continue to be unfairly washed away,” said Kosovo president.
More than two decades after the war in Kosovo, there are still over 1,600 people who are still considered missing. /argumentum.al
