TIRANA, June 21 – The American ambassador said in the last press conference before leaving Albania on Wednesday that any decision regarding the Mujahideen in Albania is the right of the Albanian government.
She made these comments when asked about Tuesday’s raid of the Albanian police in the Mujahideen camp in Manze, Durres, stressing that friends who come to Albania must follow the laws of this country.
“It is a decision that must be taken by the Albanian government. One thing is very clear that we support the right of Albania to apply its own laws in its own country. There are certain terms that apply to each guest and they must comply with them, they must respect them,” said Kim.
Answering another question if she had the most difficult mandate as ambassador after Mariza Lino in 1997 as she had to face the same person: former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, the US Ambassador said all ambassadors face their own challenges and opportunities.
“There is something about the US, we always face the future and every American ambassador will always try to lead Albania towards the future,” she said.
In addition, Kim said it was a pleasure to be in Albania. “As in every capital there is a loud noise making political class, there are some loud voices that are heard more than others and that try to speak for others. She liked to learn the truth.
Kim revealed that she had paid visits to 61 municipalities in the country and had conducted unplanned conversations, talking to people about the things they liked and didn’t like.
“I have met people who may not have fully agreed with US policies. I urge you to speak the truth, seek the truth, speak the truth,” said the outgoing US ambassador, who has started a tour of farewell meetings with the highest officials in Tirana starting with President Bajram Begaj and Speaker Lindita Nikolla. /argumentum.al
