TIRANA, September 6 – The Special Court has set the date of September 11 for the next session for the Fier incinerator. The judicial panel decided after several hours of confrontation that the other defendants for the incinerator should also prepare and present their defense.
Only former minister Lefter Koka was present in Wednesday’s session during which he confronted the prosecutor and the judge.
Koka claimed that he did not commit any legal violation and that the payments for the construction of the Fier incinerator started in 2018, while he left the post of minister in 2017. The former minister said that the accusations against him are based on the personal opinions of MP Monika Kryemadhi and not on evidence.
“The accusation is based on personal opinions of the fortuneteller, not on evidence. Basic criterion of the criminal process is believing in the infamous couple which is like investing in (notorious money laundering schemes) Sudja and Rrapushi in the last days of bankruptcy,” he said before the jury.
Lefter Koka is accused of having committed criminal acts: “Abuse of duty” committed in collaboration, “Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials”, as well as “Involvement in a criminal offense or criminal activity”, committed in cooperation, provided by articles 248 and 25, 260 and 287/2 of the Criminal Code.
Earlier on Wednesday, the former deputy, Alqi Bllako, also appeared before the judicial panel, who also insisted on his innocence.
According to the demand of the SPAK for those accused of the Fier incinerator, Lefter Koka is sentenced to 10 years in prison, Alqi Bllako 7 years in prison, Klodian Zoto 12 years in prison, etc. /argumentum.al
