TIRANA – “The U.S. is proud to be Albania’s strategic partner in its goal of modernizing its military forces and become a stronger,” has said the U.S Embassy in an announcement posted on Twitter on Friday in the frame of a visit that the Ambassador Yuri Kim paid to Pashaliman base in Vlora Bay, southern Albania.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhacka who informed Kim on the possibility that the Pashaliman Naval Base be assessed by NATO to be modernized and transformed into a model project.
Minister Xhacka noted that Albania together with the United States not only share important operational missions but also goals for the modernization of the Albanian Armed Forces.
“Together with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Yuri Kim, we paid a visit to the Pashaliman Naval Base, for which together with the Alliance we are appreciating the possibility of modernization and transformation into a NATO model project,” said Xhacka in a note on Twitter.
Afterwards, a short trip to the Gulf of Vlora was made possible by the Butrinti P-134, which has participated several times in NATO’s ‘Sea Guardian’ operation in the Aegean Sea, rescuing hundreds of migrants.
“With our strategic ally, the United States of America, we share not only important missions in operational theaters but also the common goal of modernizing our Armed Forces,” Xhacka stressed. /argumentum.al
