The Party for Justice, Integration and Unity (PDIU) has condemned the calls for the so-called northern Epirus during the Greek military parade as part of the Greek national holiday which marked the 200th anniversary of independence of that country.
In a statement to the media on Saturday, the PDIU considered the appeals as provocation and the return of Greece’s old ghosts for territorial claims at a time when both countries are members of NATO.
“At a time when the outgoing Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, claims that we have good relations with Greece and that they are working to provide solutions to long-standing problems serious provocations and the return of old ghosts. territorial claims continue in this neighboring country,” said the statement.
PDIU also condemned the silence of Prime Minister Edi Rama and Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka. Rama’s silence, PDIU emphasized, is an approval for Athens’ claims towards Albania showing the inferior behavior towards the Greek side.
With the current government, PDIU added, there will be no advancement of the “Cham” issue, but on the contrary Greek chauvinist appetites will be encouraged.
“This repeated event also serves as proof that with the current government of Prime Minister Rama, the Republic of Albania will behave only as inferior and submissive to Greece. There will be no advancement of the “Cham” issue, but on the contrary the appetites of the Greek chauvinist extremist circles in Athens will be encouraged,” concluded the statement released by PDIU.
