TIRANA, July 17 – UK is ready for the intensification of cooperation with Albania within the framework of the Alliance, but also within the framework of bilateral and regional cooperation, has said the Secretary of State for Defense, Ben Wallace in a meeting with the Albanian Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi on Monday.
Peleshi is paying an official visit to Great Britain and in the meeting with Wallace he expressed his gratitude for the support that the British Ministry of Defense has given to the Albanian Armed Forces.
The Albanian minister was also received by the Minister of State, Baroness Goldie Dl. The two ministers signed the Joint Declaration on Increasing Bilateral Cooperation in the Defense Field, a document which aims to strengthen current cooperation, identify new areas of cooperation to face challenges and adapt to the new innovations.
As two NATO member countries, the ministers reaffirmed their determination to continue contributing to international security, including continued support for Ukraine, as well as increased commitment to the security of the Western Balkans and NATO’s southern flank.
Peleshi’s agenda included a meeting with the head and several members of the multiparty parliamentary group for Albania and its focus was the latest developments in the Western Balkans. /argumentum.al
