Albania on Wednesday announced that it will launch two satellites into space in 2022, in collaboration with California-based SpaceX.
“Albania in orbit, incredible but real,” Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said in a video posted on his official social media, announcing that the country will launch two satellites into orbit in 2022.
At the beginning of the video, Rama speaks with an official from Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, which will launch the satellites. Details of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch are shown to Rama.
Albania’s first satellite named “Albania 1” will be sent into orbit in March 2022, followed by “Albania 2” in June.
In the video, no information was given about the type of satellites.
Rama has recently announced that Albania will have its own satellites to strengthen its control over its territory.
On Monday, PM Rama told Euronews Albania confirmed the country’s plan on the satellites.
“Albania 1 and Albania 2 will be in the orbit and will serve a lot to have a much more qualitative control of the territory,” Rama said.
In the meantime in his speech in Parliament a few days ago Rama told deputies they laugh but when they will see at the satellites ‘Albania in Orbit’ and not the next term, but next year, the satellites ‘Albania 1’ and ‘Albania 2’, laugh but they will see them there in orbit.
“We will take our ‘eyes’ to the sky to control and we will monitor from the sky. You laugh because laughter is a party program. Even though today you are in the conditions, when you laugh, because you can not cry,” Rama said adresssing to opposition. / Argumentum.al
