TIRANA – “As long as I am Prime Minister, the territory of Kosovo will not be divided either with accords at the White House or Red House or Yellow House,” said Premier Albin Kurti in his address in an extraordinary session of parliament convened to vote on a no- confidence motion against his government on Wednesday. .
The no- confidence motion was initiated on March 18 this year by junior partner in the coalition government, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) following the dismissal of former interior minister Agim Veliu. The decision to call an extraordinary parliamentary session to vote on the motion was taken at a meeting of the parliamentary chairmanship last Tuesday. Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani said that she “absolutely did not support this motion” and called on MPs to vote against it.
It is reported that the ‘anti-Kurti’ motion will not be voted in Wednesday’s parliamentary session.
PM Kurti, as Kosovo media said, expressed concern in his speech over leaving Kosovo people without a government at the climax of the coronavirus pandemic which has hit the country. Further on he said that the initiators of the non-confidence motion were those standing behind the swap accord between Kosovo and Serbia.
“The ‘engine’ of this motion has nothing to do with the minister neither with the withdrawal of the US troops, rather it is incited by the agreement on the exchange of territories,” Kurti said.
The PM made public a recent meeting with President Hashim Thaci who had asked him to remove the tax on Serb goods. “Afterward let’s go to Washington, do the accord and get rid of Serbia for good,” revealed Kurti. /argumentum.al
