TIRANA, May 22 – The multinational military exercise ‘Defender Europe 2023’ started on Monday in Albania and Prime Minister Rama, who made a speech at the opening ceremony, said that Albania today is higher than ever in terms of international respect.
“Albania has the honor of hosting for the second time the largest military exercise in Europe. This is a special privilege for our Armed Forces, who are hosts and participants. For the second time, this exercise highlights the continuous improvement of our military capacities thanks to the support of our American allies and other NATO countries,” said Rama.
According to him, Albania has never had a higher level of international respect. “Today, it is a member of the UN Security Council and a co-sponsor on the issue of Ukraine. This is an extraordinary responsibility, which shows what maturity and development our country has achieved,” said Rama.
In the meantime US Ambassador Yuri Kim said at the launch of the Defender 2023 that the US together with allied countries can carry out any mission.
This is an extraordinary moment, we are lucky to have it here. Look around you, a changed Albania and this is historic. Here we are in a democratic Albania, surrounded by men and women in uniform from the US, Albania and international partners, she said.
“We are here as allies, friends and partners, Americans and Albanians standing side by side, once separated, now NATO allies and closest military partners. In the two years since Defender 2021, the world has changed, Albania and our NATO allies are more united and stronger than ever,” said the US top diplomat in Tirana. /argumentum.al
