Those responsible for the personal data leak scandal should be brought to justice and punished according to the law in force, has said Prime Minister Edi Rama.
A scandal of great dimensions of the publication of private data of Albanian citizens, such as salaries and license plates has troubled public and political life in Albania with some analysts asking for the resignation of PM.
But the head of government Rama passes the ball to the net of the prosecution. “Those responsible must be found by justice and punished according to the law. I wish the prosecution to uncover as soon as possible the course of the event and the perpetrators of the crime,” Rama wrote on social networks in a debate with his followers on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, for the high salaries, Rama said that those citizens who have these salaries are taxed according to the law. The problem, sSid Rama, is the undeclared income. “Very high salaries are declared and taxed according to the law with 23% but the major problem is the undeclared part of the income of many companies, including the fictitious low salaries that are compensated with cash in cash. Significant improvements have been made in these years, but there is still a lot of struggle to be done and therefore we will continue with new anti-evasion measures,” said Rama.
In the meantime the head of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, in a statement to the media from the city of Fier on Tuesday reacted regarding the publication of salaries and data of citizens of over 600,000 Albanian citizens. He said that the publication of data was done to destabilize the employer-employee relationship.
Balla further added that with the start of the next plenary session, the legislation will be changed, in order to be similar to that of the EU.
