TIRANA, June 4 – Prime Minister Edi Rama was awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen” of Vaccarizzo Albanese, in the country where Arberesh culture is a precious richness of history and tradition.
Rama paid a two-day visit to Calabria on Saturday and Sunday.
He was received in a special welcoming ceremony by Mayor Antonio Pomillo, who presented him with the title.
Pomillo said, among other things, that the awarding of the title of “Honorary Citizen” to Prime Minister Rama “represents an act of gratitude and appreciation for his commitment, leadership and extraordinary contribution to the development of Albania. It’s a solemn gesture that shows the deep connection with the community of Arbersh.”
For his part, Prime Minister Rama thanked for the hospitality, as well as the award of the title of “Honorary Citizen”.
“I thank everyone for this very warm reception, which honestly makes us feel at home,” said the Prime Minister. In the meantime he addressed a greeting to the entire community of Arbersh, as well as to all those Albanians who settled in this region in the last decades after the fall of the communist regime in Albania, being better integrated thanks to their work and the support given by the local authorities. /argumentum.al
