TIRANA, March 1 – Prime Minister Edi Rama was honored in Italy with the “Order of Minerva” by Gabriele d’Annunzio University in a special ceremony on Wednesday.
The honor was given for the help that Albania gave during the pandemic by sending doctors and nurses to Italian hospitals.
“I am the only member of my government who does not hold a high academic title. I dreamed of meeting Minerva in person, however, it seems like it was Minerva who sought me out and brought me to Kieti to receive this honorary title,” said Rama.
Representatives of the famous University of Gabriele d’Annunzio have appreciated the generosity of the Albanian people. According to them, this is a proof of the generosity of the government, doctors and the entire Albanian people. They expressed their deepest gratitude to Prime Minister Edi Rama for the concrete solidarity shown to Italy.
Rama said that it was a symbolic aid, obviously insufficient to change the fortunes of the fierce war against the invisible enemy, but essential as a gesture of love and solidarity to show Italy that we were there with mind and what we could offer.
The order was given during the Opening Ceremony of the academic year of the University of Chieti, “Gabriele D’Annunzio”, a ceremony that opened with the national anthem of Albania and that of Italy. /Argumentum.al
