TIRANA, October 3 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has been harsh in his reaction to the statement of the US ambassador, Yuri Kim, who said that the leaders must choose who is in control of Albania – the citizens or the criminals.
“First, I categorically reject this language that the leaders should choose who should rule this country, the citizens or the criminals. As far as I am concerned, as the leader of this country, I have made the choice in time. I made the choice when I came out against the communist regime, I made the choice when I entered Albanian politics and I make my choice every day, I have no dilemma about this,” said Rama quoted by Balkanweb on Monday.
Further Rama said the enblock accusation does not help the citizens at all, it does not help the fight against crime and money laundering at all, but on the contrary it creates a big fog where the only beneficiaries are criminals and money launderers.
“You can’t throw mud on 99% of Albanians abroad and inside the country at the expense of 1% of Albanians who are connected to the world of crime,” said Rama.
This is the harshest public attack of PM Rama against US Ambassador Kim whose tenure in Albania has been the strongest public and undiplomatic support to the government head of this Balkan country one of the most corrupt in the Western Balkans. /Argumentum.al
