TIRANA, August 13 – Albania’s destiny is linked to Europe’s reaction to the new powers that are challenging the old world order, Prime Minister Edi Rama has said in an interview for the Italian daily “Libero”, which was published in Albanian on Sunday.
“The future of Albania will depend a lot on the future of Europe, which is aging more and more. If Europe fails to deal with the dizzying shocks of a world that is changing at an alarming rate, where new powers are challenging the old world order, then little Albania will not be able to reach where I am sure that will arrive! Not only with energy and tourism, but also with technology, agriculture, culture and many others,” Rama said.
He did not mention the names of those new powers that, according to him, ‘are challenging the old order’.
In addition Rama said Albania has been transformed, from a country that was pointed to as a dark place of traffic and crime into the main destination for Europeans for tourism.
He sees Albania as a country that, after centuries of living on its knees, started running, breaking its bones, to reinvigorate itself, becoming able to stand upright.
In his interview, Rama also talked about immigration policies in Italy and he evaluated the work of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, comparing her as an heir of a tiger, not of a political rhinoceros. Rama described Europe’s stance on immigration as sad, since Italy “does not need lectures on how it should act” on the matter in question, but for help and solidarity. /argumentum.al
